New FDA Approved Drug (Aubagio)

A once a day pill for treating multiple sclerosis has been recently approved by the FDA. The pills is being called "Aubagio"(teriflunomide) by Sanofi S.A., this drugs specialty is for adults with relapsing MS.

“In a clinical trial, the relapse rate for patients using Aubagio was about 30 percent lower than the rate for those taking a placebo,” said Dr. Russell Katz, director of the division of neurology products in the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “Multiple sclerosis can impair movement, sensation, and thinking, so it is important to have a variety of treatment options available to patients.”
Most of us know that MS is an autoimmune disease that has a great affect to your central nervous system. It causes loss of movement, feeling, hearing and eye sight issues. This all happens since MS disrupts communication between the brain and the body.
This drug come with some side effects that should be carefully looked at.
Aubagio's Side effects*:
This new drugs side effects that have been identified during trials includes diarrhea, nausea and hair loss. There is also a possibility of liver problems and fetal harm, including the risk of birth defects. Before starting this medication, the patient will need to be seen by a doctor and check the patient's liver function and give a pregnancy test before starting treatment with this new drug.

*These side effect in which I have listed above can and might change according to new discoveries.
